The iPhone 5 has charge failures, such as not charging, the iPhone battery power getting less when it in charging, the iPhone auto restart and so on. The
charging part of iPhone 5 is made up of Q2, U2 and U7, so, the Q2, U2 and U7 are the key to the iPhone's ability to recharge smoothly.
The
5V voltage sent from the iPhone tail plug flex cable passes through the Q2 to send two 5V power
supply. PP5V0_USB_PROTECT and PP5V0_USB_RPROT were sent to U7 and U2
respectively. There are two detection pin in the middle of the battery contact J6!
they pass through FL10, FL11 respectively and send to power IC-U7, FL10, FL11.
Now we are going to share some repair ideas.
First, we can try to replace the new iPhone batter. Becasue the iPhone 5 is old model, if the iPhone battery is broken, then we can't charge it in normal mode.
After iPhone battery replacement, if the iPhone 5 still is not charging well, we need to check iPhone motherboard.
Disassemble th iPhone, connect iPhone motherboard to the DC power supply, use DC power supply to measure whether
C304 has 5V output, and measure whether C272 has 5V output.
If there are no 5V, you need to check the iPhone 5 charging port flex
cable, and then use jumper wire to short connect the Q2.
If
both of them doesn't has 5V, then the problem is in U2 or U7.We can remove the U2 and U7 from the motherboard, , adn then install the new one.
