iPhone 6 Screen issue: the screen is blurry after drop into water

What makes you dizzy?  The spoken screen! The screen of iPhone 6 is blurry, because it drop in to water before. It won't boot before, and when fix the motherboard, it can boot, and the we found the screen is blurry. For our eyes and nice intentions, we need to fix it.

Firstly, test it with new screen, it displays normally, so we exclude the problems from motherboard. Problems happen at screen or flex cable.

According the repair experience, when the iron sheet at the upper board is solidifying the screw, the middle screw hole is twisted through. Thus the PCB is damaged and the screen is blurred. Only one circuit is under the screw, which is the 1.8V power supply of screen. The power is not sent to screen normally. I presume that this iPhone has the same reason. Observing under VGA digital microscope, I do not find such a problem but find that the pin of 1.8V power supply is eroded and turns black, as shown in picture 6-71 and 72.

Then, use ultrathin blade to scratch the solder pad and socket pins slightly. Mount some tin and it shines, as shown in picture 6-73.

Finally, we assemble the iPhone and test it, the screen displays normally, the iPhone 6 can back to normal.

Note:

As those water-damaged iPhones, after they are fixed, if the peripherals cannot be used, first we have to check whether each pin is eroded or not, especially the power supply pins.

SOLVED: watered iPhone 6 automatic restart and shows fuzzy screen

The iPhone 6 something wrong!  It dropped in to water before, and then we want to turn it off, but it is tenacious, the iPhone 6 is automatically restarted and got the fruzzy screen.  Now, we need to find the problem and fix it.

First, disassemble the iPhone with phone opening tools,  and then remove the battery, we can found that there still have some water in it and waterproof label is discolored, as shown in picture 6-65.

Second, cleaning the water, and observe motherboard, we found that the area around the screw hole at the corner of motherboard is eroded, as shown in picture 6-66.

Third, tear down the shield cover and find that one end of resistor has white tin while the other turns black, which is obviously eroded, as shown in picture 6-67. Checking the bitmap, I know that the number of this resistor is R0706, as shown in picture 6-68.

Finally, open schematic diagram and search R0706 to find its location, as shown in picture 6-69. It is a 1kΩ pull-up resistor starting from CPU to front camera’s I2C bus clock signal. Remove the resistor from the same place at accessories pad and solder it on the faulty motherboard. Then turn it on and test it, all is fine, the iPhone 6 back to normal.
Tips:

If this kind of I2C resistor is damaged, it will lead to root error report and turn on failure. Please be careful during the repair process.
