Solved: iPhone 6 Plus always restarting and got error 9

Today, we are going to talk about iPhone 6 Plus restart problem. After pressing the iPhone power button, the iPhone screen displays properly, but it won't turn on smoothly, becuse it always restarting, and it got a iTunes error 9. How to solve this problem?

Step 1:  Force restart iPhone 6 Plus
In order to force restart iPhone 6 Plus, please press the iPhone home button and the iPhone power button at the same time, after about 10 seconds, the Apple logo will appears on the iPhone display screen, and then you can release both button.

However, after the Apple logo appears, the iPhone 6 Plus was back to restart automatically.

Step 2: Update IOS

In order to update IOS, please connect the iPhone 6 Plus to the computer via iPhone lightning cable, open iTunes on the computer, and then use iTunes to update the IOS.

After updating, press the iPhone power button, the Apple logo appears normally, the problem still the same.

Step 3: Restore iPhone 6 Plus

In order to restart iPhone 6 Plus, please connect the iPhone 6 Plus to the computer via iPhone lightning cable, open iTunes on the computer, make sure the iTunes is latest version, and then use iTunes to restore iPhone.

However, it failed to restore and the iTunes reports unknown error 9.

According to our experience, the iPhone restarts automatically when white Apple logo appears, and there is a iTunes error 9, these problems are related with iPhone CPU, iPhone EEPROM IC and iPhone Nand flash.

Step 4: Solve it in hardware aspect

Use phone opening tools to disassemble the iPhone 6 Plus, remove the iPhone motherboard, there is no obvious faulty point.

Remove the iPhone CPU cover shield, apply some heat-resistance tape to the components next to the iPhone CPU, and then use QUICK 861DW hot air rework station and tweezers to check remove the iPhone CPU.

After removing the iPhone CPU, it's found that there is a circuit leading to the eeprom was disconnected, and the solder pad of the another circuit also is unstable, so we are going to solder a jumper wire to the corresponding pins of the eeprom IC.

Attach the iPhone motherboard to the PCB holder fixture, and then put it under the microscope. Use hot air gun to solder the jumper wire on the iPhone CPU solder pad. When it's done, soldering this jumper wire to the pins of the eeprom.

Now we need to weld the iPhone CPU back the motherboard, and then assemble the iPhone 6 Plus.

Finally, press the iPhone power button, the iPhone 6 Plus is turned on properly. Testing the functions, all functions works properly.

Drop-damaged iPhone X speaker doesn't work- how to fix?

The iPhone X speaker doesn't work after dropping, how to fix it? After checking, we confirmed the iPhone X speaker is damaged by dropping, now we need to fix it.

Test the iPhone X, when we click a ringtone, there is no voice from the bottom speaker. We insert the earpiece, we can hear the voice in earpiece mode.

Based on our experience, the iPhone audio circuit is normal, but the bottom speaker is not working, we need to disassemble the iPhone X again.

Use phone opening tools to disassemble the iPhone X, carefully remove the iPhone X display screen, disconnect the iPhone battery, and then disconnect the iPhone X tail plug flex cable.

Use digital multimeter to measure the socket of the iPhone tail plug flex cable, the data tested is normal, which means the bottom speaker is working properly. Measure the iPhone motherboard connector, after measuring, we found there is circuit line of the one pin is open circuit.

Login to ZXW online account to check iPhone X schematic diagram, we know that this pin is connected to the second pin of the iPhone ringtone amplifier IC through by the middle layer pin S162 of the iPhone X motherboard. So, we need to check this circuit carefully.

Carefully take out the iPhone motherboard, apply it to the iPhone X fixture holder, and then use QUICK 861DW hot air rework station to remove the upper layer.

Observe the upper layer under the Stereo Zoom Microscope, we find that there are many pins are missing on the upper layer, which including S156 pin of the NFC circuit.

According to our repair experience, we think it's because the iPhone was dropped and then it caused virtual welding and pins missing on the iPhone motherboard.

Remove tins on the solder pad and upper layer, clean the iPhone motherboard. Use digital multimeter to measure the diode data of the S162 pin and S163 pin, the data tested are normal.

Now, we know that the open circuited is caused by the virtual welding of the middle layer.

Soldering a jumper wire on the S166 pin, apply some green UV oil to it, and then use UV light lamp to solidify it. Next reball the tin on the lower layer.

At last, assemble the iPhone X, and turn on the iPhone X to test it, the speaker function works properly. The problem has been fixed!

Troubleshoot: iPhone X failed to boot

Today, we are going to talk about iPhone X problem. This iPhone X is failed to boot,  we confirmed the iPhone display screen and iPhone battery are good, so now we need to check iPhone X motherboard. As we know, the iPhone X logic board is double layer designed, so we have to be patient and be carefully during the repair process.

Firstly, we need to tear down the iPhone X.  Use phone opening tools to disassemble the iPhone X, and then remove the iPhone dispaly screen, disconnect the battery, and then remove the iPhone X motherboard.

Now, we need to separate the folded motherboard, we can put iPhone X motherboard on the SS-T12A heating station, so we can separate the motherboard.

After separating the motherboard, we  need to measure the iPhone X upper layer logic board with DC power supply, the current is abnormal, now we confirm that the faulty is on the iPhone X upper layer.

Use digital multimeter to measure the iPhone power supply voltage of the upper layer, we found that there is no voltage value on C2771 and C2770.

Continue to measure the C2771 , it is normal. Then measure the C2770, the problem was found, the inductor L2770 is damaged.

We need to replace the damaged L2770. Attach the upper layer to the iPhone X PCB Holder, in order to protect the surrounding components for L2770, we need to stick High-Temperature Adhesive Tape in there. Use QUICK 861DW hot air rework station to remove it.

After removement, re-weld the new inductor L2770 to the motherboard, and then measure it again, now the data is normal.

Finally, install the iPhone X, and test it, the iPhone X is turned on successfully after pressing the power button, the trouble has been solved!
